Strongly « Blaxploitation » influenced, you can see a lot of things going through ERYKAH’s mind at this moment as she denounces police brutality, poverty, health care system, the Illuminatis and others political elements… In one word : Dope!

Here is a classic old school hip hop track performed by the rap and electro funk music group MANTRONIX. From old school hip hop to electro funk to house, the duo based in New York and founded by Mc TEE and KURTIS MANTRONIK was an influential band of the 80’s.
INdeed, MANTRONIX exploited technology with an old school attitude incorporating samplers and synthesizers into the mix. From hip hop to electro music, KURTIS MANTRONIK inspired dozens of artists such as M/A/R/R/S or Future Sound Of London. By this time, KURTIS MANTRONIK had also worked on A&R at Sleeping Bad Records where he signed and produced EPMD, KRS-ONE first credits.
The single “Bassline” (1986) was a big street hit and succeed to their classic full length “Mantronix – The Album” :
