The talented & secretive Miami-based producer named ARNOLD STEINER [aka AS1] is back with a new project on his own electro label Transient Force. The « Songs for Venus » album is a concept-album built around the different type of NEBULAS displayed into the galaxy. Indeed, each title track refers to a specific interstellar cloud of dust. In accordance to that topic, the « Songs for Venus » album highlights a large diversity of well-produced electronic sounds & melodies such as : Ambient, Drone, Electro, Dark beats and of course Electro Bass music. On that project, you will find back the classic AS1′s signature and also some new interesting directions via his experimental ambient tunes. The album-concept is as well catchy as solid and has a no non-sense in its entire listenning. Therefore if like us, you think SCI-FI electro music is currently too focused on Robotic sounds and not enough on Galactic music you will really enjoy this awesome album, the pure spacey electro vision is inside. Coming from ‘nowhere’, the free compilation entitled « THE ELECTRO COMPENDIUM » did in 3 weeks & still doing a well deserved buzz, broadcasting the robotic music beyond its regular media exposure. Indeed, this attractive project has got the singularity to feature 116 tracks (Yep 116!) representing more than a quarter of the finest producers from the entire underground Electro niche reunited in order to say : the original electronica music is still here in 2012! (In a way, it will probably remind to the large audience what is behind the original name of Electro : Electro Bass, Electro Breaks, Electronic, Idm, Ambient, Hi Tek…) This appreciated non-profit initiative is signed by the electro band VOLSOC. The entire listening in one-shot is of course not easy according to the 12 hours of music however the quality is maintained all the way. In addition, THE ELECTRO COMPENDIUM’s tracklist in its solid diversity could remind you the quality provided during the SATAMILE Records’ era! Everyone will easily make his own selection into these 116 tracks. THE ELECTRO COMPENDIUM is a real positive pace for electronic music. Recommended!

Last year, ‘Digital Sparks‘ was the electro track that i listened to the most according to the counter of my music player computer program. As you probably know software aren’t like those players on web, they only rate the listening if you listen the tune until its latest second. This sweet track produced DEEMPHASIS is actually a sneaky trick, each time I press ‘Play’ button, I can’t stop it… Indeed, this one transfers you where you’re not excepting to go. During the first part, the ambient sounds make you feel in trust but it’s already too late to realize, DEEMPHASIS has been building a spider web around you for finally playing with your mind via his nasty acid bass lines. If you don’t fear to be haunted, (re)play it :

The UK electro pioneer SCAPE ONE has just released a new album entitled « Sensory Data » under his alias TAU SAGITTARII (It’s the original name of a star in the southern zodiac constellation of Sagittarius). This brand new identity represents his minimalist ambient production related to astronomy. Therefore if like us you was checking on every SCAPE ONE’s releases his great down tempo & spacey tunes, here is the project you are attending for. SCAPE ONE has token the leap with an entire album and the results is as expected. Very addictive!
The experimental «Sensory Data» album can be approached in 2 ways, you can re-build a story based on the titles & on the dreamlike sounds; the script would be an advanced humans’ trip in the heart of galaxy. However you can get this project in more abstract way and just let your mind float. The entire atmospheric track listing is really solid, and the time could acclaim this project as an underground masterpiece in its purist approach. We have to mention also it’s always a pleasure to listen SCAPE ONE behind a synthesizer. At the same occasion, this lovely album is a good introduction of the new Croatia based label MEHAИIKA run by HRVOJE [the half of UKV]. Hotly Recommended!

The dark electrohead DVS NME has just self-released his 2nd album entitled “Metastasis” via Bandcamp website. This new project is clearly more introspective and therefore more sentimental than his last EP. DVS NME designs a kind of robotic spleen with great shades of grey. His productions keep a minimalist & purist vision of electro in the legacy of KRAFTWERK along with this cold & dark ambient reminding the JOHN CARPENTER’s touch. The “Metastasis” album contains 11 tracks with a constant relevance (a special mention for 2 mind blowing tracks : ‘Solitary’ & ‘Disappeared’). This mysterious project is actually the best DVS NME album. Recommended!
