LAZER SWORD – Point of Return
The futuristic Duo LAZER SWORD has just released their second album entitled “Memory” on MonkeyTown Records, the sub-label of 50 Weapons. In this one, LAZER SWORD switches again their kind of production exploring the music style by style in a free continuous way. Indeed, they started with a debut album mixing Hip-Hop, Dubstep & Electro and then LOW LIMIT & LANDO KAL released a couple of EP oriented Glitch, Post-Dubsteb, Bass music, Jack House,…to finally released the “Memory” album mixing Electronic, Post-Dubstep & Jit (Ghetto bass). This new amazing project is actually an U.F.O floating between Hype & Undergound and should talk to open minds. The title “Memory” isn’t an accident. Actually is pretty honest because if you put this album under a microscope you will find many appreciated references to the Post-Future music …from the past & the present.

First of all, the cover reminds CYBOTRON : ‘Clear’ the one with the guy crossing the wall of time. About the music here’s some influences : the great Hi-Tek & sophisticated sounds featuring along the album remind the Detroit vibes related to URBAN TRIBE; the mix of sweet vocals with the cold & accelerated sounds was already developed by producers like DJ RASHAD, MACHINEDRUM (and URBAN TRIBE too); the production control on bass & on the echo near to the post-dubstep sounds are a bit similar to INSTRA:MENTAL. However at the end it isn’t a copy, LAZER SWORD really success to create his own specific signature during this new experience.
Their vibes are fresh, mental, sexy, hybrid and very well produced (as their usual). About the featurings, it isn’t be a surprise to to see JIMMY EDGAR & MACHINEDRUM who are musically close to LAZER SWORD and producing also in the legacy of early Electro. The entire album is very solid & smartly thought to be enjoyed on the dancefloor and also at home. As so far, it’s easily the best electronic album of 2012 . Hotly Recommended!

ADDISON GROOVE Debut album on the label FIFTY WEAPONS
By K4WS3 on Apr. 12 2012 | Category : Reviews // Stay informed by subscribing to RSS or to TWITTER

For those who don’t know already, ADDISON GROOVE is the side project of the Bristol based dubstep producer HEADHUNTER acclaimed by many different type of music lovers for his excellent 2nd E.P ‘Work it / Sexual’ after disturbed the scene with his tune ‘Footcrab’ in 2010 & 2011. Now, ADDISON GROOVE is back with a debut album on the rising label Fifty Weapons. Featuring 13 new cuts very well produced, this anticipated album entitled ‘TRANSISTOR RYTHM‘ is not really oriented to be listened in one shot but more to be understand as a candy box with some good tunes to pick up and to drop into your player (or Into your dj set). The groove, the bass and the great 808 sounds along with some vocals are still the main ingredients of the catchy AG’s production. As most european producers involved in ghetto bass music, it isn’t wrong to say he’s pretty stranger to the Chicago way of life. However ADDISON GROOVE clearly makes a real difference on this album by sucessfully applying the knowledge he has gained from his personal researches about the original rythms of drums produced in the old african tribes. Those ones remain the basement of what people call currently the “Juke music”.

New release on CAR CRASH SET : The « Conscious » album by MEKHA
By K4WS3 on Feb. 16 2012 | Category : Reviews // Stay informed by subscribing to RSS or to TWITTER

The future bass label CAR CRASH SET has just released the debut album of a mysterious Mexican producer called MEKHA. Actually unknown, he should get by means of his project the full attention of inquiring minds & underground music lovers. Indeed this sublime album entitled “Conscious” represents a large diversity of sounds : dubstep, minimal, electronica, dub, ambient, bass music. All these add some great shades of grey to the MEKHA’s dark production. For as much it’s not so apocalyptic like the introduction track let us think, everyone will find the reminiscence of human feelings floating in that menacing industrial environment. The package contains 9 tracks well produced, 4 original mixes along with 5 remixes signed by DSVE HOSX, KUPA, D.M.R., MHV & The RAGING SEA …and it’s pretty rare to not be mentioned, every remix is a total success giving a more hybrid dynamic to the “straight” originals. As so far, the ‘Conscious’ album is simply the best original soundtrack of this early 2012… Hotly Recommended!
