The solid electro label CULTIVATED ELECTRONICS is back to its roots by releasing a new series of compilations entitled « World Electronix ». For reminder in 2007, the first one releases were a series of 3 vinyls introducing CULTIVATED ELECTRONICS as a very promising imprint. And since its beginning this UK-based label has succeeded in maintaining a such quality every time on Vinyl. The 4-tracks EP « World Electronix Volume 1 » has just been released and features some main creative minds from Electro scene. The first tune signed by the talented SILICON SCALLY is an amazing abstract Hi-tek production dedicated to dystopia lovers. The Madrid-Based producer BORIS DIVIDER provides his classic Sci-Fi signature on a track well-produced as its usual. Then, there is a new collaboration between SYNC24 & DEIXIS (both respectively running CULTIVATED ELECTRONICS & ABSTRACT FORMS label). That’s certainly the good surprise on this EP sounding like a promosing connection. On the last cut, the duo MORPHOLOGY produced a dynamic & very catchy track including some riffs sampled straight up from DOPPLEREFFEKT’s production. Therefore that track should talk to a specific nostalgic audience. In conclusion, this entire 1st installment of the series is hot, diffusing Electro music in its pure classic weird forms. Recommended!

Most of Electro lovers are still angry about genres : Electro-Clash & Electro-House stole the name & the sense of the original “ELECTRO”. To be honest, i haven’t got any problems with those illegitimate children, my only one regret about Electro music is its unofficial separation with its wife the Techno music.
I really missed the time when productions represented the hybrid combination called “ElectroTechno” (more relevant via the sounds than denomination), the finest masterpieces were clearly produced & played during this period (1982-2002). Currently 80% of the producers who did the 2 styles wouldn’t to be ranked in ‘Electro’ boxes and claimed only the greatly esteemed ‘Techno’ word & affiliation. Since the beginning of 00′s, according to my point of view, i feel like the Underground Electro scene doesn’t seem to get over this divorce and keep trying to survive in the shadow (repeating sometimes the same old formula while forgetting some of the main ingredients …therefore boring the devoted listeners). In addition, the new Straight Electro producers seem a bit close-minded, not very interested by any other type of music and especially not by their “ex-soulmate” the TECHNO that stays always very rich in musicality. Therefore the “modern” Electro music is often poor & not universal…
However I’m not saying Electro music is dead, good exceptions make my day every day. But I’m pretty sure if Electro was still connected with Techno, ELECTRO/TECHNO will be on the front jiggling the floors & the minds. (To be realistic, this gathering isn’t going to happen again because Techno music lives well in its own way)
Anyway, i don’t really want to conclude on something negative or positive, i just wished to share my opinion
…and now let’s the music take control with this masterpiece for remind the (unforgettable) powerful connection :

CULTIVATED ELECTRONICS is one of the most respectable underground electronic imprint producing slowly but surely some solid projects, released every times in vinyl. On their catalog, you can find some timeless masterpieces like the tracks “From Below” by JUNQ, the remix of SIGNAL TYPE “In Abyss” by GOD OF TECHNOLOGY, and the recent remix of SCAPE ONE “Time Falls” by DYNAREC,… The 10th release is out now, it’s an EP signed by an old timer from Holland : SONAR BASE. His project entitled ‘We Attack at Dawn‘ contains 4 spellbinding tracks (including a remix by SYNC 24). The SONAR BASE‘s production are dark & still connected to the mid 90′s electro-techno sounds also along with that specific acid bassline (dear to this label). Like a good horror movie soundtrack, this EP will send you shivers up and down your spine. Recommended!
