Back in the Days with a masterpiece of Electro Funk
JAMIE JUPITER – Computer Power
San Francisco based duo LAZER SWORD (members are Lando Kal & Low Limit) delivers with the self-titled LP « Lazer Sword » (Innovative Leisure) a brilliant album fusing anything from rap, electro, dubstep and grime together to form a new kind of musical experience.
“Lazer Sword” also has very good collaborations like on “Topflites”, a powerful hip hop track worn by heavy basses and the incisive flow of M SAYYID (Antipop Consortium / Airborn Audio).
The fifteen tracks of “Lazer Sword” offer a journey punctuated by the sound of future music, an original and varied selection marked by heavy basses and sharp melodies which have all to make “Lazer Sword” one of the releases of the year.

A kind of “weird-electro-psychedelic-glitch-pop” song, exactly what I (you?) need to well begin this week !

“Knight Ryder” is a pure electro track taken from the EP of the same title released on Devon Records (a secret subsidiary label of Breakin’ Records) in 1998 and produced by MICHAEL KNIGHT. MICHAEL KNIGHT is indeed an alias of the legendary electro producer DMX Krew also known as EDMX, ED DMX or COMPUTOR ROCKERS who runs one of my favorite electro label Breakin’ Records.

Here is a classic old school hip hop track performed by the rap and electro funk music group MANTRONIX. From old school hip hop to electro funk to house, the duo based in New York and founded by Mc TEE and KURTIS MANTRONIK was an influential band of the 80’s.
INdeed, MANTRONIX exploited technology with an old school attitude incorporating samplers and synthesizers into the mix. From hip hop to electro music, KURTIS MANTRONIK inspired dozens of artists such as M/A/R/R/S or Future Sound Of London. By this time, KURTIS MANTRONIK had also worked on A&R at Sleeping Bad Records where he signed and produced EPMD, KRS-ONE first credits.
The single “Bassline” (1986) was a big street hit and succeed to their classic full length “Mantronix – The Album” :
