New release on TRUST : “Semi-Automatic” EP by CLATTERBOX
By K4WS3 on May. 22 2012 | Category : Reviews // Stay informed by subscribing to RSS or to TWITTER

The Vienna based label TRUST is a very unique underground imprint speaking forthright to the avant-garde of the electro niche. Indeed, their no nonsense releases are focused on the weird electronic music (related to Detroit sounds) and produced in that truthful futuristic way. Therefore some listeners feel confused by that unusual aesthetic however their release fusing abstract design & sophisticated tunes are really tasty breaking out of old electro patterns in order to push this type of music to its high-level; and all that with the help of finest & regular producers.
After the 20th release signed by STINGRAY313, it’s actually the UK Electro Break producer CLATTERBOX who returns on TRUST Label with a new ep entitled Semi-Automatic. This project contains 4 killer tracks, 2 original mixes and 2 remixes : the 1st produced by CREEPY AUTOGRAPH an alias of the talented JIMMY EDGAR & the 2nd remix is signed by LOK44 aka DANIEL POLIG (who runs Pomelo Records). Each tune of this ep makes sense dropping some hybrid vibes with a singular kind of groove and about CLATTERBOX, he seems to be in his best creative ability. Therefore the “Semi-Automatic” vinyl is simply another outstanding release coming from this label. Recommended!

The DVS NME new album : «Metastasis»
By K4WS3 on May. 16 2012 | Category : Reviews // Stay informed by subscribing to RSS or to TWITTER

The dark electrohead DVS NME has just self-released his 2nd album entitled “Metastasis” via Bandcamp website. This new project is clearly more introspective and therefore more sentimental than his last EP. DVS NME designs a kind of robotic spleen with great shades of grey. His productions keep a minimalist & purist vision of electro in the legacy of KRAFTWERK along with this cold & dark ambient reminding the JOHN CARPENTER’s touch. The “Metastasis” album contains 11 tracks with a constant relevance (a special mention for 2 mind blowing tracks : ‘Solitary’ & ‘Disappeared ‘). This mysterious project is actually the best DVS NME album. Recommended!

New release on CULTIVATED ELECTRONICS : ‘We Attack at Dawn’ EP by SONAR BASE
By K4WS3 on May. 14 2012 | Category : Reviews // Stay informed by subscribing to RSS or to TWITTER

CULTIVATED ELECTRONICS is one of the most respectable underground electronic imprint producing slowly but surely some solid projects, released every times in vinyl. On their catalog, you can find some timeless masterpieces like the tracks “From Below” by JUNQ, the remix of SIGNAL TYPE “In Abyss” by GOD OF TECHNOLOGY, and the recent remix of SCAPE ONE “Time Falls” by DYNAREC,… The 10th release is out now, it’s an EP signed by an old timer from Holland : SONAR BASE. His project entitled ‘We Attack at Dawn‘ contains 4 spellbinding tracks (including a remix by SYNC 24). The SONAR BASE‘s production are dark & still connected to the mid 90′s electro-techno sounds also along with that specific acid bassline (dear to this label). Like a good horror movie soundtrack, this EP will send you shivers up and down your spine. Recommended!

PAUL BLACKFORD : «Dream Sequence» – New EP on TUDOR BEATS
By K4WS3 on May. 11 2012 | Category : Reviews // Stay informed by subscribing to RSS or to TWITTER

One more time MR PAUL BLACKFORD drops an other solid project! Following his latest killer album on Binalog Records, PAUL BLACKFORD has just released a new EP on the TUDOR ACID’s imprint : Tudor Beats‘. This ep entitled “Dream Sequence” is a great invitation to float into the galaxy, into this special mood very representative of this producer. PAUL BLACKFORD’s music is a sweet blend of spacey Electro, melodic (UK) Drum’n'Bass and (Detroit) accelerated Techno. This EP features 2 original tracks and 2 remixes of the title track by SCREWTEC (BlackRed) and TUDOR ACID which are both not bad but a level behind the powerful original. It’ a real pleasure to see PAUL BLACKFORD keeps saving the underground music in its original form : groundbreaking, abstract, timeless, not too cleaned, truthful, fascinating… Recommended!

CLASSIC FOOD is Timeless…

The epic Drum’n'Bass METALHEADZ catalogue is for many different music lovers arranged in a specific place on the vinyl shelf & in a brain cell.
It’s easy to me to remember the 1st time i had the chance to discover this label. I was painting a wall, and the sound was totally appropriated for the vaporous mood coming from the colored aerosols particles. (Only after i understood the producer & co-runner of METALHEADZ named GOLDIE is also the GOLDIE from the early UK graffiti scene…). I guess each fan of this imprint are able to remember what was he doing when he was listening and how it changes his vision on the music.

New release on MONKEYTOWN RECORD : “Memory” album by LAZER SWORD

LAZER SWORD – Point of Return
The futuristic Duo LAZER SWORD has just released their second album entitled “Memory” on MonkeyTown Records, the sub-label of 50 Weapons. In this one, LAZER SWORD switches again their kind of production exploring the music style by style in a free continuous way. Indeed, they started with a debut album mixing Hip-Hop, Dubstep & Electro and then LOW LIMIT & LANDO KAL released a couple of EP oriented Glitch, Post-Dubsteb, Bass music, Jack House,…to finally released the “Memory” album mixing Electronic, Post-Dubstep & Jit (Ghetto bass). This new amazing project is actually an U.F.O floating between Hype & Undergound and should talk to open minds. The title “Memory” isn’t an accident. Actually is pretty honest because if you put this album under a microscope you will find many appreciated references to the Post-Future music …from the past & the present.

First of all, the cover reminds CYBOTRON : ‘Clear’ the one with the guy crossing the wall of time. About the music here’s some influences : the great Hi-Tek & sophisticated sounds featuring along the album remind the Detroit vibes related to URBAN TRIBE; the mix of sweet vocals with the cold & accelerated sounds was already developed by producers like DJ RASHAD, MACHINEDRUM (and URBAN TRIBE too); the production control on bass & on the echo near to the post-dubstep sounds are a bit similar to INSTRA:MENTAL. However at the end it isn’t a copy, LAZER SWORD really success to create his own specific signature during this new experience.
Their vibes are fresh, mental, sexy, hybrid and very well produced (as their usual). About the featurings, it isn’t be a surprise to to see JIMMY EDGAR & MACHINEDRUM who are musically close to LAZER SWORD and producing also in the legacy of early Electro. The entire album is very solid & smartly thought to be enjoyed on the dancefloor and also at home. As so far, it’s easily the best electronic album of 2012 . Hotly Recommended!
